What's your money style? Which are you? the hoarder, spender, binger, worrier, money monk or mo

THE HOARDER- YOU LIVE FOR A GREAT BARGAIN.

THE SPENDER- YOU%26#039;VE NEVER MET A CREDIT CARD OFFER YOU DIDNT LIKE.

THE BINGER- YOU HAVE NO TROUBLE SAYING NO TO $4 LATTES, BUT YOU CANT RESIST BLOWING YOUR RAINY DAY FUND ON A NEW FLATSCREEN TV.

THE WORRIER- YOU LIE AWAKE AT NIGHT FRETTING THAT YOU WONT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO COVER THIS MONTHS BILLS.

THE MONEY MONK- YOU%26#039;D NEVER ASK FOR A RAISE, NEEDING MONEY MAKES YOU FEEL GREEDY. YOU TRY TO AVOID DEALING WITH YOUR FINANCES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

THE MONEY MASTER- YOU ONLY USE CREDIT CARDS FOR THEIR CONVENIENCE, AND PAY OFF THE FULL BALANCE EACH MONTH. YOU SET ASIDE A PERCENTAGE OF EACH PAYCHECK FOR SAVINGS.

What%26#039;s your money style? Which are you? the hoarder, spender, binger, worrier, money monk or money master?loan forgiveness

I%26#039;M A HOARDER AND A PART MONEY MASTER. I NEVER USE CREDIT CARDS. I FIRMLY BELIEVE IF YOU HAVE TO CHARGE IT YOU CANT AFFORD IT. YES I DO SAVE MONEY EACH WEEK.

What%26#039;s your money style? Which are you? the hoarder, spender, binger, worrier, money monk or money master? loan

Money monk/spender/binger. I%26#039;m not greedy and don%26#039;t need much, but I don%26#039;t see the value in saving, so I spend it as I get it, helping others (like my kids) with whatever I have to spare.|||i know that i will need money for some things that might crop up. so i%26#039;m the worrier|||money master!|||A spender|||I am a combination of the spender and the worrier but I%26#039;m trying to reform my ways and become the money ma$ter!|||Definately the Worrier because money is tight right now and i%26#039;m barely making enough money to pay all my bills %26amp; rent, but i%26#039;m doing it! =)|||i don%26#039;t see %26quot;money saver-you use your cash wisley%26quot; anywhere!|||I guess I fit a few of those.

Curently I%26#039;m a worrier..

In the past I%26#039;ve been the hoarder and sometimes the spender. Anyway I look at money it%26#039;s just evil! It never makes me happy.|||I%26#039;m a combination of a hoarder and a worrier. I hoard my money looking for a bargain to give my three kids all I can and worry that money will be thin or gone when it comes to another bargain find.

Am i better off clearing my loan or mortgage?

I have a mortgage with a rate of 4.99% which i am allowed to take payment breaks from. Three per year. I have a loan at a rate of 5.2%. Would it be wise to take the payment breaks and use the money to clear my loan? My mortgage is 锟?15k and the loan is 锟?4k

Also, is it worth putting the loan onto a credit card with 0% interest until the 0% interest period is up and then sourcing another 0% interest credit card offer and shifting the balance continually like this until the debt has gone?

Am i better off clearing my loan or mortgage?bridge loan

Refiance your mortgage and incorporate your other loan into it. In other words let the mortgage co. pay off the other loan aand add it to your mortgage. You can also wrap up your auto loan in your mortgage to free up that higher interest rate.

Am i better off clearing my loan or mortgage? loan

id clear the loan and then focus on you house|||the credit card thing is a good idea if you are disciplined and wont use the card and will switch at the end of the term. i would say pay the loan off as the rates on loans are always higher than the mortgage rate.|||WWW.martinlewis.com for good sound advice on most financial aspects. My son used the advice on this website and was able to claim back literally hundreds of pounds in bank charges.

Give it a try good luck!

My advice though would be to clear the loan off.|||A personal loan is unlikely to be at 5.2%. This may be the headline rate (for headline read %26quot;we%26#039;re lying%26quot;). It%26#039;s the APR you need to compare.

Personal loans usually have an unfair method of calculating the early redemption cost. You need to take the hidden redemption penalties into account when deciding is you should shift.

The drawback with consolidating a personal loan into your mortgage is that it will take longer to repay so although the interest rate may be lower, the total cost is higher.

Moving to 0% credit cards can give a saving, provided you know what you are doing. Remember that these are designed to be introductory offers to trap the unwary into paying fees and interest. Read the small print carefully and don%26#039;t use the same credit card for purchases (any payments in come off the 0% chunk and you pay accumulating interest on the purchases). The other problem is that you are committing yourself to being able to find 0% deals in the future. These could dry up if banks have to rethink their charges.|||1. A mortgage payment break means you are simply deferring payment until later and the interest still accrues including interest on the interest you have just accrued by taking a break. It%26#039;s a bit of a con over say 20 years of the lifetime of the mortgage and you will on paper at the end of it paid through the nose for that break. You have to think a little beyond the initial bonus to you . . . the lenders do it for a reason and that%26#039;s to increase their returns over a longer period but suggesting to you that%26#039;s it%26#039;s a gift to you for being such a nice customer.

2. The loan rate you have is OK . . . even if it was 6.2% or up to 7.5%.

3. Credit Cards and 0% over 12 months. There is a fee of usually 2.5% to 3% depending on which card you apply for. In effect that%26#039;s 3% interest you are paying. Fine if you can keep swapping and applying for new cards every 12 months but what happens what if the credit card companies stop promoting 12 months free interest at the end of your period and you can%26#039;t get another card. Then you have to organise a quick loan instead and you may end up paying a higher interest than your first loan.

Finally . . . unless you desperately need cash for some reason, just keep paying back what you owe at the rates you already have.|||Hello,

(ANS) In my opinion I would advise you to pay off your mortgage first before anything else, why? a) its a large monetary amount b) interest rates may go up again c) you will be paying a much larger amount financially in the long term in interest and fee%26#039;s to the lender on a mortgage of 锟?15K than on 锟?4K.

**I was amazed once I cleared my mortgage how much money that freed up each month.

**Once you have cleared your mortgage (if you can) use the money from this to next clear your smaller loan at 5.2% on the 锟?4K. If you are self disciplined I think you will be surprised as to how quickly you could potentially pay this off. Bear in mind you could also think about even increase your repayments per month on the smaller loan once the mortgage is gone?

Ivan|||The loan has a higher apr - assuming that the interest is charged monthly. It may well be that the interest was front loaded and now you are paying the capital of the debt off.

If this is the case you don%26#039;t need to do any balance transfers. - In any case many of these now have fees and penalties hidden in them. .|||do not take payment breaks, those three payments a year

will help you pay off your mortgage faster at 4.99%, great

rate. Credit Cards have much higher interest, just pay whatever extra you can and get it down, switching credit

cards all the time is not good for your credit rating, even

if you close them. Too many inquiries are not good either.

What is the rate on your loan? And can you pay 14K in the

six months or a year at 0%, and what is the rate after the

0%, they can charge as high as the law allows which can

be 28% and that isn%26#039;t getting you ahead.|||Refinancing an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM) is a common practice for borrowers. However, it may not always be the best option. Depending on how high interest rates climb, there are cases when you could end up spending more on converting your mortgage than you would save with a locked in interest rate. If you do want one with your name, i would just sugest signing up for on online... it is cheaper to do that too because you dont have to pay the $10 for the card, they just mail it to you, I found a pretty good website with a bunch to choose from - http://www.cashcardreviews.com , you can pick which one you want altho I recomend the account now visa, I have one of those and have no complaints. Those online offers that always claim to send you free things, do they work? It seems like they do,

all you have to do is complete two offers.. And those offers ask you for your credit card number, but only for shipping. So if the item that you%26#039;re trying to get is a laptop ($1000 value) and you complete two offers that require $10 worth of shipping, wouldn%26#039;t you be making a profit?

Or do they use your credit card number later on for some other purchases?

Well have a look round on google to see if the site is legit or not. Some are, some aren%26#039;t. I cant see one what you need to do only 2 offers for is legit. As they need to make more than $1000 some way.

Most are phishing scams. One good clue is the form. Get to the form they want you fill out. Don%26#039;t fill anything out, just look at the URL (web address). Does it begin with httpS? That %26quot;s%26quot; is crucial. without it, it%26#039;s NEVER a save site to place orders from. That means it%26#039;s a secure site. I%26#039;ve checked out a few of those offers... and they were NOT secure sites.|||From everything I%26#039;ve seen, if you follow and accept all the offers that you have to do to complete the %26quot;free%26quot; offer, you%26#039;ll be out more money that you%26#039;ll be saving. I also suspect you%26#039;d have to be %26#039;extreeeemly%26#039; assertive to get said %26#039;free%26#039; item/service.

That%26#039;s the general rule of thumb and I suspect it would apply to this aswell. You%26#039;ll end up paying more one way or another.

What exactly can I put in my recycling bin?

Besides the obvious stuff like newspapers, plastic beverage bottles, and glass bottles..

Can I put stuff like receipts, credit card offer envelopes I don%26#039;t read, old homework, various plastic wrappers, fast food bags/wrappers/cups, toilet paper tubes, used paper plates, etc etc my recycling bin? plastic packaging (blister packs?)

Thanks!

What exactly can I put in my recycling bin?horses for loan

Yes you can recycle any paper product as long as it has no food residue on it, so your old receipts, old homework, junk mail, etc. is fine. For plastic wrappers and blister packing it depends on where you live/the company that takes care of your recycling. (The blister packs and other plastic containers should have a number in a triangle somewhere and the company that deals with your recycling should have a list of the numbers they accept.) For items that have been used for food, paper plates, napkins, etc., you can put these in your compost bin if your company provides you with one. (If you have no compost bin I recommend stating your own because it will help cut down your waste and provide you with nutrient rich soil and worms for fishing. Here%26#039;s a website on how to do it: http://www.compostguide.com) Oh and for those plastic cups just give a rinse and throw them in the recycle bin. Glad to see your recycling!

What exactly can I put in my recycling bin? loan

You can put in anything that%26#039;s recyclable, which includes things like metal, old towels, broken calculators, old computers, broken printers, unused or unneeded wood, pens, USB%26#039;s, anything that can be reused and remade. For anything like rotten items, dead leaves, banana peels, etc. you can place them in a compost bin, but if you are growing plants in a yard, these can be placed and the ground to decompose and provide minerals and nutrients to the soil. Happy recycling!|||You may want to invest into a paper shadder for personal papers.|||Yes!of course u can, any kind of paper plastic or cardboard material can be put in the recycle bin, thanks 4 recycling

If a credit card %26quot;offer%26quot; comes in the mail, it doesn%26#039;t contain a credit card. It contains an application for credit, which you can either fill out and mail back, or fill out online. The letter does not guarantee approval, and nobody can steal it and use it for identity theft, since there%26#039;s nothing inside except for an application, and a colorful insert that lets you choose which card style of the 4 to 80 they have, to choose from!|||When you sign up to fill out these surveys, your actually giving away your phone number, address, or other information that helps them solicit other products to you later down the line. In addition, they sell your personal information to third parties that%26#039;s why you continue to get %26quot;junk mail%26quot; and spam emails. The only way to stop them is to request them to stop by either replying with an %26quot;Un-subscribe%26quot; request (in the spam email you receive there should be an unsubscribe link available) or write to them and request them to cease all communications with you whether it be through email, snail mail, or otherwise. They must comply. If you want to back up your request send it certified mail, they have to sign for it, which proves in a court of law that they did receive your request and will be unable to deny it further.

A credit card company verifies more then just your name. If someone was to use your information to obtain a credit card that is not you, that would be fraud and a federal offense. Punishable with fines and/or imprisonment. They would need you social security number, current and previous address%26#039;s, phone number, current work and salary information, etc. in order to open a successful line of credit in your name.|||mark those emails as spam... and shred that junk mail!|||I give up my job 4 years ago. After that,I began to seeking good and easy methods to earn money at home.

It sounds like you need repositionable adhesive transfer tape. Look at the link below, at the bottom: %26quot;928-100 Glue Tape Repositionable%26quot; is what you%26#039;re looking for. Note that you will need the dispensing gun too.

We used to use this tape to mount design sketches to matte board. It%26#039;s repositionable (obviously) but will adhere stronger over time. And like rubber cement, it can be %26quot;rolled up%26quot; to leave a clean, unmarked surface underneath.

Read some credit, loans and investing tips on this site to help you with it|||no|||It is perfectly OK to do this under certain conditions:

1. If you do not have the funds to pay back the loan immediately, then you should only invest in 100% guarenteed investments. Other investments (stocks, corporate bonds, etc) have volitility that can really hurt you here. The best fit for this deal is typically 12 month CDs. However, there are savings accounts paying nearly the same as 12 month CDs, so those are good (and much more flexible) options as well. Don%26#039;t get greedy....take your 5% with a smile. Afterall, it%26#039;s free money.

2. Stay on top of this stuff. Do not under any circumstances miss a payment or even be late with a payment on this card or any other card. The way the system works now, if you are late with a payment to Chase, Citi can (and will) cancel your 0% and shoot you straight to 20%+.

3. Know when the rate expires, and don%26#039;t get caught off guard. If this rate expires a year from now, mark it on your calendar in red ink. Better yet, mark the day...and put reminders a few weeks before hand to pay it off before the rate jumps.

That%26#039;s about it. Keep in mind that when you take out 0% offers, it does increase your debt to income ratio, which affects your ability to get other credit.

They offer 5.05% and are a very reputibale bank. But i do know that www.eloans.com offers 5.25% on savings and 5.60 on CD%26#039;s. I have a friend that has am www.etrade.com savings account that gets 5.05% and she really likes it. It seems to be a little more user friendly as far as signing into your account goes. But, i don%26#039;t mind the added security that HSBC as. Over all i just definately recommend and on-line savings account because of the better interest rates they can offer. And as far as credit cards go if you have a good credit score I think that you definately want to go for one that offers points towards something you like (ie, airlines, hotels, cabela%26#039;s, etc.) or one that offers cash back such as Discover.|||There%26#039;s no simplified best, but keep in mind the following...

Savings accounts:

For savings accounts, they are less frequently withdrawn from than checking accounts (perhaps once every month at most). They%26#039;re more liquid, and offer a very negligable amount of interest usually around 1%. Savings accounts should be used for things like unexpected car maintenance, etc.

CDs:

If you don%26#039;t plan on using the money, or have enough in the savings to cover unexpected expenses and occurences then invest the money in a CD. CDs are federally insured no risk SAVING VESSELS, they%26#039;re not really an investment because interest rates while much higher than savings accounts are still considerably low, and really don%26#039;t do much more than counter yearly inflation and add a few extra dollars on top of that. So if you want your money to be about the same value a year from now or so, then put it in a CD not a savings account. Savings account will actually devalue your money if you don%26#039;t use it.

Credit Cards:

Don%26#039;t bother looking at credit card interest rates, if you%26#039;re concerned about that then you don%26#039;t need a credit card. Interest rates on credit cards only come into play if you aren%26#039;t responsible enough to pay off the bill each month in full, and in that case you shouldn%26#039;t use a credit card. Just look for good benefits in credit cards such as airline miles, rewards, etc.

I hope this knowledge will shed light on your financial decision making, and guide you to a sound choice.|||Again, may I suggest WAMU: Washington Mutual Bank. I love there :no fees%26quot;, an they do have CDs.

But Neither savings nor CDs will pay very much. If you are just starting out, which it sounds like, then choose a CD in the six months range. They are currently paying about 4.5-5% per annual. So in six months you will make on $500, about $12. Savings are even worse: most pay 2% maybe three% about $5-$6 in six months.

Please be aware that banks love the phrase %26quot;High interest%26quot; when it is in the neighborhood of 4.75%. That really is poor,

Accident in Rental Cars?

My friend was involved in an auto accident on the freeway today. He was in a rental car which he rented for the week.He did not get the ldw from the rental place, because his credit card offered it.Another car tried to pass in front of him, thus forcing him over to the side on the grass on the side of the freeway. What are the latest telemarketing workarounds(scams) out there?

Starrting Tuesday the 10th, I started recieving calls on my cell phone from 000-000-0000. How do you count miles?

So,i`m filling out a credit card offer with a miles rewards 1 dollar spent-is a 1 mile earned. But how do i know if it`s worth it,if i don`t even know how many miles is my flight,is there any site, where i can calculate the flight distance.I checked orbitz and travelocity, and could not find any info...can you help me,please?

How do you count miles?student finance

Award flights aren%26#039;t based on the number of miles to that particular destination. The awards are given out once you reach a certain number of miles. The farther out of a particular region you want to go the more it is.

For example, for the airline of my choice, it%26#039;s approx 45 thousand miles for a trip in the continental US. To go outside, say down to South America, it%26#039;s 60K. It goes up from there.

Whats a balance transfer?

i saw a credit card offer this online and people talk about it,but, i never knew what it meant or what does balance transfer do??? someone explain it 2 me =]

Whats a balance transfer?credit union

A balance transfer is simply transferring the balance from one credit card to a 2nd credit card (usually a new card).

Example. Credit Card 1 you owe $500 @ 18% interest. You get a new credit card that is offering balance transfers @ 0% interest. You can transfer the $500 from Credit Card 1 where you have to pay high interest, to credit card 2 . This will pay off credit card 1, and now credit card 2 you will owe the $500. Alot of people will do this, so that they can pay money owed at less %.

Whats a balance transfer?

loan

If you had another credit card and owed a balance of $2,000 you can transfer that to your new card. Why transfer a balance? Because the new card might be offering a deal like lower interest rate then you are paying now for the balance to be transferred.

Then you owe a balance $2,000 on the new card. If you kept this up monthly, you might never have to pay that balance! :)|||That means you move the amount you owe from you current credit card company to another credit card company... usually one charging a lower rate of interest.|||A balance transfer is when you transfer the balance of one card to another. You can transfer all or part of your balance. What the credit card company does is make a payment for you to the other card. Be careful, most of the time they charge you a higher interest rate since it is a cash advance. Also, they will start charging you interest as soon as it is done, unlike a credit card purchase. They can also charge you a transfer fee|||A credit card balance transfer is the act of moving an existing debt from one credit card to another credit card. With a balance transfer, the existing balance is transferred to another credit card and then is subjest to the new card%26#039;s interest rates and fees.

I am very sure this is stated somewhere in the %26quot;legalese%26quot; of the %26quot;terms and conditions%26quot; disclosure you were provided upon opening your credit card account.

However, the credit card company is REQUIRED by law to notify you in advance IN WRITING should they make any changes in your APR, especially when they have previously marketed a fixed rate.

Entering into credit counseling with a debt management program?

I am entering into a debt management program with a credit counseling company. I have about $17500 in debt %26amp; my payment with the company would be about $400 a month.

My question is, would creditors be willing to accept 1/2 of the minimum balance that is due usually...I have 3 cards I%26#039;m in debt with...one is $285/month, $185/month, $165/month. I%26#039;m already 2 payments behind with 2 of the cards. Would the credit card companies accept a personal offer of 1/2 the usual minimum for a certain time frame? So I%26#039;d offer them $142.50, $92.50, $82.50.

Or since I%26#039;m already behind on payments should I stick with the debt management program (I just signed on with them %26amp; have to make my first payment on 9/28) %26amp; wait until I%26#039;ve been in the program a few months %26amp; then try to talk personally to my creditors %26amp; see what I can offer at that time??

I work for a pretty large global bank. I would stick with the CCCS program if I were you. I have worked in several areas such as auto loans, corporate/business credit cards, private label cards, co-branded cards, unsecured lines of credit, etc. There are hardship programs out there for banks to offer you, but I don%26#039;t know if it would cut your payment in half, if it did...It wouldn%26#039;t be a very long term plan. Many hardship programs are not for the life of loan/balance. The revenue comes from finance charges and late fees, which many banks do not want to part with, but all banks are different. Keep in mind, these CCCS companies have working relationships with these banks and usually get you a decent deal. Just make sure you are not signed up with a debt settlement company....Chances are, you%26#039;ll get sued.

Entering into credit counseling with a debt management program? loan

It would have been more convenent to work with the creditors yourself and work out a deal with them. Some debt management programs can hurt you because it takes the power out your hands to make legitament negotiation with your creditors to reduce your monthly payments. The objective is to maintain good standings .|||You really should be working with your creditors yourself. If you deal with it yourself you know whats going on. If you leave it up to someone else then you only know what you are told by the company you hired.

What they will do is not pay your creditors for months and then try and settle for less. You really need to do it yourself. Save the fees they charge and use it on the debt.

Remember, if they dont pay your creditors. You, and you alone are still responsible for the debt. Your creditors will come after you and not the company you hired to handle it.

They will settle for less than the amount owed but they want it asap so you need to start saving now.|||Dave Ramsey says when you use companies like these you get %26quot;better interest rates and lower payments, but at a price. When you use one of these companies and then try to get a Conventional, FHA, or VA loan, you will be treated the same as if you had filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Mortgage underwriting guidelines for traditional mortgages will consider your credit trashed, so don%26#039;t do it.%26quot;

I would call your credit card companies and explain your problem and your suggestion for dealing with the problem. They will probably be happy to see that you are planning on paying anything. Remember though that if you pay half your credit card payment that you will probably be paying the interest only and you will not be getting to the root of the problem, the debt (the principle) itself. Look at the website I mentioned below. He has a lot of great ideas!

Student Loans for Bad Credit?

Unfortunately, due to me being careless, I messed up my credit. I need help paying for school because my fin aid will not cover the full amount. I have credit cards, but my school does not accept credit cards as a form of payment for tuition. I also do not have a co-signer because I am on my own. I am considering calling my bank on campus to see if they can give me a loan for $1000, to cover the rest of tuition. Does anyone know if this is something banks usually do? Also, does anyone know of any other banks or companies( ex. Citi, Wachovia) who offer bad credit personal loans? PLEASE HELP!!!

Student Loans for Bad Credit?unemployment rate

Education is a great thing but it is never worth going into debt. Even if you graduate, the stress of trying to find a job (quickly) while under the dark cloud of debt is tremendous. You should get a job and go to school part-time. If you are only $1000 short, you should have enough on hand to pay for a part-time load. Some employers will even pay your tuition (big companies, government). You have a lot of options besides student loan debt.

How is credit affected by settling an account for less than what is owed?

For example: I have a credit card that had an original credit limit of $500...I HAD it paid down to $300...stopped making payments, bill is now over $900, creditor offered a settlement of $488. How will accepting the offer affect my credit?

How about in general, how do settlements on loans and credit cards affect credit report/scrore?

What if the bill is current and you make a settlement? Does that show up negatively on your report?

It improve your credit if you agree to the creditor negotiation but will not be remove after 7 years.

Your existing past dues account is already hurting your credit.

I say about -25 to -75 per month on your credit score for keeping a existing past dues account.

How is credit affected by settling an account for less than what is owed?

loan

It is in your best interest to take the settlement.

This card has been sent to collections and this is the creditor%26#039;s best effort attempts to acquire what they can. They%26#039;re doing this for themselves as they wish to stay a profitable company. Alas, it works towards your favor too!

By taking the settlement it can do nothing but help you as your creditor will report you to the credit agencies as you did pay off the credit card and there won%26#039;t be official record on your credit that any settlement was ever made except show that the account was changed to paid/resolved which is incredibly better than permanent delinquency/ charge-off in the eyes of creditors. It shows you are making your best efforts and are in good faith. This works in your favor!

By taking a delinquency out of default it can increase your FICO score and help you begin to repair the damage much more easily and in a shorter amount of time.

Best advice, take the settlement! If you can%26#039;t afford the amount right away, a lot of times they will work out a payment plan. Otherwise, find a way! You%26#039;re *VERY* lucky they%26#039;re willing to settle with you and forgive all the extra penalties from late/delinquent payments.

I am13 years old and have been trying to find easy ways to get myself a free ps3 unfortunately every time I came across a sight you have to vomplete offers that you need a credit card to complete. You can indeed get a free playstation 3 from there. If all you did was watch trailers though, you would have to watch 62,500. The only possible way to do it is to refer people to the site where you get 500 points per referral. In this case you would need to refer 125 people to get enough points.

What is the difference in APR between revolving credit and installment credit?

I recently transferred my remaining two credit card balances to a card with a balance transfer rate (APR) of 4.99%. I am paying off the card at the rate of $1000 a month. I should have the card paid off by the end of the year. A Lender called me today (I had paid off the lender) and said I should consider an %26quot;installment loan%26quot; with the lender at a higher rate (8%). She said my APR was %26quot;revolving credit%26quot; and she could offer me %26quot;installment credit%26quot; which was better, even at the higher rate. What%26#039;s the difference in the two? Can anyone tell me what banks offer "easy to get" credit cards for people with bad credit?

You may want to check where you do your banking to see if they offer a low balance credit card or a secured credit card. Secured cards are the easiest to get becuase you have to put a deposit upfront in order to secure the same amount in a line of credit. Orchard Bank has them, Bank of America has them, for a more complete list you can visit this website

Credit repair solutions... Help!?

After going through a divorce almost 4 years ago, I stopped paying on at least 4 or 5 credit cards. I%26#039;ve never paid a dime since, and they have killed my credit.

If I offer a settlement with each one individually, what are the chances they will accept? What percent of the original debt would be good offer?

Also, if they accept the settlement, will it be removed from my credit, and my rating go back up? The damage has already been done, so I really don%26#039;t want to go this route if it is not going to help. In a few years it should be gone from my report anyway, I think.

Any suggestions/advice will be greatly appreciated as I realize this was one of the worst mistakes I ever made in my life.

Are there any good credit/debt internet forums out there?

Credit repair solutions... Help!?postage rate

I used to work for a credit repair company and can offer you some suggestions.

1) DO NOT offer them a settlement. If you have not made payment in 4-5 years, they are considered old trade lines and are not affecting your credit rating at this point as much as you might think. If you offer them a settlement, you will verify the negative account, thus bringing it to current negative status instead of old.

2) Pull your credit and make sure you pull a tri-merge report. This gives you information from all 3 bureas (TransUnion, Experian and Equifax). You will likely see duplicates b/c if company A can%26#039;t collect from you after 6 months or so, they sell your account to company B. Then if company B can%26#039;t, they sell it to company C. So, you may have the same debt listed on there, as negative, 3 times.

3) Begin disputing ALL negative items on your report. Do some %26quot;googling%26quot; and find terminology for disputing negative accounts. Bureaus have 30 days to investigate your dispute and deem it valid or invalid. If the companies can%26#039;t verify things, then they have to remove it from your credit report. Now, this isn%26#039;t to say that 6 months later they can%26#039;t put it back on there if it is valid, but for something 4 or 5 years old, it%26#039;s highly unlikely. And keep in mind, once an item on your report is 7 years old, you can request it be removed.

4) Begin rebuilding your credit. Get a secured credit card. NEVER have more than 1/3 of your limit charged on it. And don%26#039;t immediately pay it off. Example: You get a $300 secured card. Charge $100 on it. When the bill comes, pay $50 and the next month, pay the rest. Continue doing this for about 4-6 months and you will see a great improvement in your score. If you can afford to get 2 or 3 secured cards, even better.

Get any and all agreements in writing. Your history won%26#039;t change, but it will age off.|||First to answer your questions. Generally creditors will accept anywhere from 40%-80% of the debt. But this is dependent on several factors such as how old the debt is and how fast you can pay it off. The older the debt and faster you can pay them the more they will knock off.

The question is SHOULD you make a settlement offer. First there is something called the Statute of Limitations, this is the period of time creditors can legally take action to get you to pay. This varies by state and is 2-6 years from the date of the last delinquency. If you are past that they can no longer force you to pay through the courts. The second is the 7 year reporting period. Once 7 years has passed from your date of last delinquency it can no longer be reported on your credit report.

Now, if you are in these periods still and want to take care of the debts the best thing to do is offer to pay it in full IF they remove the collection account. They generally will not do this if you settle for a lesser amount. When you send the offer through certified mail make sure to include the amount you will pay, the dates, and that they need to remove the collection account. DO NOT send any money to them until you have a written agreement from them that they accept the offer.

If you just do a settlement and the collection account remains on your report your score will not improve much. But if you can get them to remove it, it will be like the collection never happened and will improve your score.|||Your best way out is to go to a credit counseling company. Pick a good one and a Christian one is even better since you know they will be offering emotional help as well. They will combine your debts into one payment that you pay them and they will contact all your credit card companies and make the payments to them for you. They automatically negotiate lower interest rates and fix the problem between you and the credit card people. All the credit card people want is their money. They will take it what ever way they can get it. Something to remember that may not work for you since you stopped payments for so long, is that if you go through a situation where you cannot make full payments on something, if you pay something regularly every month, they cannot take you to court, they have to accept the payment. It keeps the door open better for keeping you out of hot water and for negotiations between you and them. The situation you are in now though is better taken care of by a credit counselor who by the way also takes doctor bills, etc and puts them all in the pot. We got completely out of debt that way. We were paying over $1000 a month to all the people we owed and most of it was going to interest penalties and it would have taken us over 25 years to pay them all off. When we went with the credit company, our payments dropped to $600 due to the credit company getting the majoriety of the interest taken off and combining all the debt with us paying them that $600 and most of that money was going to the premium. We were out of debt in 5 years. One thing though, if you go with a credit counselor, you will not be able to charge a thing on any credit card anywhere or take out a loan until you are out of debt. They do make allowances for emergencies sometimes for a loan sometimes but you have to go through them so that they know why and what it is for. If they do not ok it, you will be dropped and have to pay all your credit companies the regular way. We got a loan approved because our van was in an accident and the replacement value wasn%26#039;t enough to get another one. They approved that. Also working with them, will help your credit score increase alot better because you get out of debt on good credit and faster which works well with credit bureaus.|||I have been to %26quot;many%26quot; different credit repair sites on the web. Can a store do something by giving me bad credit because the store accidently shipped me the product

I purchased a painting at a store that cost about 1200 dollars on Sunday. I paid 15 % (about 250) by credit card and the rest of it by financing. When I made the purchase, they had a 3 month free financing offer. However, my credit was not strong and was not approved for credit. Before I made the purchase, I asked whether if I do NOT get approved for credit, can I get my deposit back. They said %26quot;Yes%26quot;. On Sunday, the banks were closed to process credit. After 3 days later, the called me saying that I got denied for credit. Therefore, I would have to pay the rest by credit or check. I did not have the money to pay the rest by credit. They now said deposit is not refundable.

However, they accidently shipped me the painting (without full payment). After 5 months, accounting caught up with the the short change and called me. My question is if I do not pay, can they legally screw my credit (or do something), even if they mess up by shipping me the painting? Even I offer to return picture

Your credit is already %26quot;messed up.%26quot; Keeping the picture for five months was inane. Try for a face-to-face meeting with the stores credit manager. Maybe you can negotiate a deal that will satisfy both you and the store.|||They cannot do anything to your credit because you dont have any credit with them. NO CONTRACT EXISTS! The only way that they can enter something on you now is thru court.

YOU SHOULD WELCOME THIS!

They know that they have no recourse (other than to threaten court) that is why they are calling you begging for it back!

I am sure that if they would have REFUNDED Your money at the start of this mess, this would not have been an issue!

BUT NO

THey are extortionists! KEPT YOUR $250.00 for no reason at all!

Man this makes me angry!

Sure they might be able to file a small claims against you, LET THEM.

What exactly would they say?

That they sent you a painting that you agreed to pay for but didnt?

THEN HAVE THEM COUGH UP THE CONTRACT!

Doesnt exist

THEY Sent you a GIFT!

If they do actually get in front of the judge, the worst that will happen is that they ASK you to return the painting! At that point you tell them that you are holding the painting for hostage for your DEPOSIT!

You %26#039;gave%26#039; them something for nothing, let THEM see how it feels.

YOu are willing to do the right thing if THEY are if they are not, then you are not.

Next time they call and ask about YOUR painting

tell them you want to discuss your refund

and since you cannot trust what they say (you tried that once)

you want the discussion to be followed up with a written agreement.

They want to charge you with theft, let them try, what exactly did you steal?

They would be laughed out of court if they say you stole something that THEY SENT TO YOU without a contract.

Your understanding was that they adjusted your deposit to cover the full cost of the painting.

If this was not the case then why 5 months.

They wouldnt dare take you to court

if they do so what, what is the worst that can happen, you give it back.

again

dont take my word for it, call the big three yourself ask the the criteria for putting something negative on your credit

the first thing that they will tell you is that there needs to be some sort of CONTRACT

well they dont have one so they are out of gas there!

ENJOY YOUR PAINTING|||I agree with the poster who said keep it.

Call wells fargo to be sure .

Ask them what the procedures are for denied applications.

That application is probably long gone, but even if it is not, could you get so lucky that they would TRY to enter something against you.

If they did, you would own the studio.

Where is the proof that you agreed to pay for the painting and didnt?

THEY NEED FACTS to enter ANYTHING if they dont have them you dispute it. THE CREDIT CARD company HAS to investigate and if Picture people cant prove it, OFF IT COMES!

THey cant prove it so you win!

ON the off chance me and the other poster are wrong,

IF your credit is already bad, really who cares.

I doubt that you are going to pay off the friends debt anytime soon so 4k or 5k what difference does it make.

Score one for the honest people like you!|||If you return that painting, you deserved to be screwed.

Next time they call, ask them to send you a copy of your contract with regards to this painting (listen to the crickets chirping in the background)

Tell them that you will not talk to them anymore and that you consider these phone calls harrassment.

THen everytime they call, HANG UP!

Block the number if you need to!

The other poster is off his rocker if he thinks you should do the right thing by returning the picture and then HOPE that they will.

You have LEVERAGE NOW

if 5 months have passed and they did not offer you a refund do you REALLY think that you have a snowballs chance in hell of getting one if you give that painting back?|||Tell them that you actually sold the painting to recoup your losses for the $250 that they stole from you.

They cant touch your credit!

your contract was void when the terms could not be agreed to.

who ever heard of $250 to run your credit.

A real company would have said we will hold the painting for 24 hours run the credit and discuss Monday morning.

Sing to them

%26quot;what a tangled web we weave, when we practice to deceive%26quot;|||I wouldnt go talk face to face with any of those liars!

If the credit manager was honest, where would you $250 be?

Tell them that you have consulted with an attorney and that the attorney has instructed you to tell them that you will not pay for nor will you return the gift that they send you unless they agree to send you a refund.

THEN tell them not to call you anymore and that all future contact MUST be made by mail.

Hang up

If when they call you back say, %26quot;I MUST INFORM YOU THAT I AM RECORDING THIS CONVERSATION AS PER MY ATTORNEYS INSTRUCTIONS%26quot;

(even if you aren%26#039;t, they will know you mean business)

Then say %26quot; I HAVE ASKED YOU TO CONTACT ME VIA MAIL ONLY since I am starting to feel harrassed by you over the gift you sent me%26quot;

hang up|||Okay, I hope I have the right idea here. You put 15% down on a painting, were denied in-store credit for the remaining amount owing, and could not pay the store any other way. You asked for your deposit back, and they said no. Then they shipped you the painting anyway. Now they want it back.

First thing%26#039;s first: return the painting. I know it was their mistake, but they might be able to charge you with theft if you don%26#039;t give it back, and that%26#039;s ten times worse than a bad credit rating.

Once you have returned the painting, you owe them nothing, therefore, they should not be able to report you to a credit bureau. (I%26#039;m not sure they could in the first place, if you did not have a signed credit agreement in place with them. A lawyer could tell you, for sure.)

As far as not returning your deposit, I%26#039;d get a little cheesed off about that, especially if you didn%26#039;t sign anything saying the deposit was non-refundable. I%26#039;d make a fuss, and see if they give it back to you like they SAID they would. Threaten them with small claims court or reporing them to the Better Business Bureau. If they still don%26#039;t give it back, you need to decide if it is worth pursuing (it%26#039;s probably not).

Good luck!

If you pay a lump sum, will credit cards bargain with whats owed?

I owe a credit card over $20,000. If i offer them a lump sum of money ....say $15,000. to get the card paid off, do companies bargain with you like that????? Anyone had experience with this?

If you pay a lump sum, will credit cards bargain with whats owed?inflation rate

It totally depends on your credit score. If you have a low credit score, then banks will negotiate because they may fear they will not get paid. If your score is higher, above 600 with the highest around 850, you may not be able to negotiate. I do not know your circumstances. However, you pay tax on the difference of what you pay and what you owe, so it will still cost you some money. Plus if you settle, this will appear on your credit report for 7 years from the last payment. Are you settling with the bank or issuer of credit cards or the collection agency. I would highly suggest if you have good credit, just try and pay the $15,000.00 and bargain your interest rate down or transfer the $5,000.00 to a lower rate card. The other possibility is going to one of those supposed not-for-profit agencies that negotiate with your lender for a lower rate. Be careful who you choose. Bad credit stays with you for at least 7 years so unless you are in a very bad way, for moral, ethical, and financial reasons (a better credit score means a lower rate), you are better paying. The last resort of course would be a bankruptcy attorney.

If you pay a lump sum, will credit cards bargain with whats owed? loan

It is possible, but they may also report the $5,000 as debt relief and report you to the IRS with a 1099-C.

IF that happens, you will owe income tax on the $5,000 as though it were income.

Pay the $15K towards what you owe and If your credit is decent, try and get some balance transfer cards as close to zero % as possible for the balance, and pay them down/off.

It%26#039;s YOUR debt. Don%26#039;t be a deadbeat.

No, you do not want to open another card. Just keep paying on your highest interest one. Your balances are small enough for it not to make to much of a difference. Those credit card companies know what they are doing offering those low interest rates.

If you are planning on paying off the cards in only a month or two then don%26#039;t take the offer - you have also failed to indicate the financial charge associated with the transfer offer - it is not free they usually ask for a couple of percentage points.|||First off, never again use more than 50% of your available credit line. That lowers your fica, (good credit), score.

Often, the 6.9% offers, when you read the fine print are for balance transfers specifically.

Either way, depending on how much available credit this new card offers you, pay down some of each card so that you aren%26#039;t hovering so close to your limit anymore.

I%26#039;d pay each down half, but only if that doesn%26#039;t come anywhere near maxing out the new card.
